2009 Midwinter Greetings from Troll The winter team at the Troll research station wish all our Antarctic colleagues a happy midwinter celebration. The celebration at Troll will begin Saturday 20th of June with social games and pizza. Late at night, we will be in our outdoor hot tub. At 00:00 June 21st, a toast will be proposed for the darkest day of the year. If weather permits, lunch on midwinter day will be outdoors with grilled hot dogs and lamb. Dinner starts at 17:00. The starter dish is rakfisk with potatoes, lefse, onion and sour cream. Rakfisk is a traditional eastern Norwegian fish dish made from trout, salted and fermented for two to three months, then eaten without cooking. The main course is breast of pork, sauer kraut, potatoes and sauce. For desert we will have ice cream with cloudberries. Beer and aquavite will be served. All guests are welcome. We have tents for guests spending the night. Best regards Asbjørn Djupdal Station leader, Troll station
